ALCON

I am looking to have some work to my Springfield Armory MIL SPEC operator (1911).

The main issue is there are some many types of 1911's that I do not wish to buy the wrong thing.

I believe that mine being a full size (5") stock that most companies would classify it as a GOVT. model. Please correct me if I am wrong on this. Also any suggestions on parts (name brand/model) would be great. Also don't need to spend mad cash for STI/Wilson stuff. Not doing any matches or anything, mostly for home defense and personal shooting.

Mine is pictured below.

- What I am looking for is a pair of 3 dot serrated tritium night sights. They do not need to be adjustable.

- A enlarged magwell.

- Extended mag release that is easier to reach without twisting the pistol to the left (short fingers).

- Lastly a low mas trigger and hammer.

Also custom work I would like to look into, but need insight first. I would like to get the front of the slide serrated, no big deal.

But I wanted to see if getting the top of the slide flattened and have serrated lines but on the flat part running from the front sight to the rear to cut down on the glare. Is this possible? Or will it affect the integrity of the slide?

Ski, there are a few  differant 1911 models the Mil-Spec and the TRP  and rhe 1911 lightwieght operator.  the  TRP is called operator too  so im not sure what you have. i have the XD tactical 45ap and use the trijicon tritium night sights here...http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=173925754

but its my understanding the 1911 comes with the 3 dot hi-viz combat sights and they are very good.....i dont see much of a differance. but beats the hound out of the dovetails front and rear on the XD.

as for the rest thats more ching than i want to spend for a pistol.

if it were me i would seek out a reputable gunshop and ask some ?? if you arent sure.
